CAPTAIN RICK REDDICK
Rick grew up fishing on Clearwater Beach. As a young boy, he would paddle his canoe around the flats surrounding the Memorial Causeway. Rick could be seen fishing the dock lights around his house for snook. Living around the fishing industry and have a family that was four generations deep in the local fishing industry, it was only a matter of time before he abandoned all and dedicated his life to fish. Shortly after high school, Rick joined his cousins Captains Jerry and Pete Rathey to commercial fish in the Gulf of Mexico, Honduras, Columbia and other portions of the Caribbean. On these trips, Rick learned the art of deep and shallow water grouper fishing. While in the Caribbean, he saw sights that only the most seasoned of sailors see. Large whales, massive sharks and huge grouper were daily sights, but more importantly Jerry and Pete were teaching Rick what it meant to become a hardcore fisherman and captain.
Jerry’s fishing experience was not limited to offshore fishing. He also taught Rick how to fish for snook and red fish on the inshore flats and freshwater rivers. Jerry, like Rick, is a native Floridian, and Rick has learned many of his life long fishing secrets. Rick’s dad also taught him much about speckled trout and snook fishing. Rick Sr rarely had a boat so much of the fishing they did was from land. Rick’s dad taught him to tie knots, cast and throw cast nets.
Rick can often be seen fishing and boating with his wife and four children. He has taught fishing seminars, been a cover story on fishing magazines and been featured on T.V. fishing shows. With such a wealthy fishing heritage, Captain Rick comes highly equipped to give clients a rewarding day on the water.
